Sweet
16 - June 22, 2002
Something
very special is coming to Beautiful House - 16 (or
more) of Vancouver's finest independent female musical
performers back-to-back in one amazing foray at our
sixteenth special event on Saturday, June 22, 2002...
It's gunna be sweet!
Help
The Fight Against Breast Cancer:
A
portion of net proceeds will be donated to promote
Nite Of Hope - a fundraising charity for the Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation. The Nite of Hope is
an elegant fashion show and dinner at the Radisson
Hotel in Richmond. Judi Miller, the very dedicated
organizer of this prestigious event, was awarded with
the Community Achievement Award in 2000. In its third
year, this gala event raised an impressive $45,000
for the Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation.
Beautiful House is pleased to announce that the following
independent female musical performers are tentatively
confirmed to perform at Sweet 16 this June.
We
have had an unprecedented number of submissions by
female musical performers and thank everyone for their
interest. As we are having a difficult time narrowing
down the talented ladies to only 16, we're scheduling
20 women to perform for the evening. If submissions
continue to pour in, this all-female themed indie
music event may continue again sometime in the future.
Please visit here again in the coming weeks for updates
to the lineup!
Opening
the evening and accompanying selected artists is Conrad.
In alphabetical order (by first name), here is the
unrefined and growing lineup for Sweet 16 as of our
last update, May 17, 2002:
We
welcome back more of the deep jazzy house in "The
Halo Room" by resident dj's from Vancouver's
Halo Gallery. Be sure to visit halogallery.com
for upcoming events at Halo Gallery in downtown Vancouver
and The Halo Room at Beautiful House.
Thanks
to the overwhelming response of indie women in music
who have submitted. Email us who you'd love to see
perform at future events. If you are a performer,
please let us know more about you for future events
by emailing submissions@gallerylounge.com.

Not
far from the "South of Main" (SoMa) area
of Vancouver and and close to Langara College, The
Marpole Curling Club is one of the latest venues opening
their doors for organizations like us to hold live
music and art shows. They're located at 8730 Heather

near A&B Sound at Cambie & Marine).
As
always, they have a full bar with amazing drink prices
(they must be Irish) and our one of a kind Beautiful
House cocktails. If you're inclined, there's free
curling lessons on Sunday's at noon or you can talk
to management about getting a lane for a quick game
before the show beings. For directions and info, please
call us at 604-720-3040 (please don't call the curling
club).
Where
in this city can you see such diversity in live music
while you mingle with some of the city's most promising
emerging talent and participate in or view an evening
life/figure drawing session in progress, enjoy spoken
word, art exhibits, deep house in another room, cheap
beer, cocktails and share an evening with other beautiful
people like yourself? It happens for one night every
few months only at Beautiful House!
Thank
you for supporting and being a part of our independent
community of music + art with a beautiful vibe for
your soul - gallerylounge.com
thus far! If you enjoy what we're doing, please help
us spread the word.
