Late Tuesday is an all-female band that sits at the
forefront of the Bellingham and Northwest Washington
music scene. The band (ages 22-25) writes original
music both individually and collectively. By taking
turns on lead vocals and using multiple instruments,
they are becoming widely known for their creative
sound. From packed self-produced shows in Bellingham,
to the Wild Buffalo House of Music, to The Paradox
in Seattle - Late Tuesdays fans always pack
into a venue no matter where the location. Late Tuesday
is:
Dana | piano, keyboards, vocals
Tara | acoustic guitar, piano, vocals
Jocelyn | guitars, djembe, tin whistle, hammered
dulcimer, vocals
Tara, Dana and Jocelyn front a band combining richly
interwoven harmonies over acoustic and electric guitars,
piano, and bass/drums to create an original folk-pop
sound not heard 'round these parts. In combining the
familiar elements of modern music Late Tuesday's unique
sound suggests that there are new and refreshing things
to be discovered in ordinary life ~ and in "ordinary"
music.
Together since February of 2000, the band originated
from an independent solo album released by Tara in
May of 1999. That album "Credo" also featured
Dana and Caitlin E. on vocals and violin respectively.
Jocelyn joined the group in February of 2000 and together
they formed Late Tuesday. They released their debut
album in April of 2001. After a year of playing numerous
local shows and locations as far as Utah, the band
has moved back into the studio to create a new album.
Caitlin was with Late Tuesday until Nov, 2001 when
she left on good terms to pursue a solo career and
Late Tuesday began recording their self-titled debut
album, which was independently released in April of
2001 (and has since sold over 2000 copies with only
local distribution). The creative songwriting in this
album is evidenced in the first track "Ordinary"
where the band's name is also referenced:
"Just another day ~ breathing out and breathing
in ~ put on the same old jacket ~ step out the door
~ No birds are singing ~ except the ones inside your
head..."
"...just another day ~ holding the hand of one
you've loved for thirty years ~ Late Tuesday or Thursday
afternoons ~ blurring together like watercolor lines..."
Their new album, "Looking For Flowers Again",
returns fans to the pop sensibility of their first
album while moving forward with original songwriting.
This album, produced by Aaron
Sprinkle, was released in 2002.
All of the members attended Western Washington University
in Bellingham. Tara graduated with a degree in vocal
performance in 1998, and Dana and Jocelyn developed
their musical talents there while graduating in 2001.
