Juliet Turner
Genre: Alternative Pop
Location: Ireland

After the success of her support slot with Bob Dylan at Source at Kilkenny and the signing of a world wide record deal with East West, Juliet Turner played her biggest solo gig to date with her own live show at the Point Theatre on October 14th, 2001.

Born in Tummery, near Omagh, Juliet is one of the most talented songwriters to emerge from Ireland in recent years. Combine her unique voice with intelligent, perceptive lyrics and well-crafted melodies and you have rare magic. Juliet grew up in rural Northern Ireland. She moved to Dublin to study English and History at Trinity college, where she began writing and performing her own songs and after graduating in 1997, remained in the city to continue her career as a musician.

Her first album "Lets Hear It For Pizza" was first released in 1996 and received critical acclaim. It sold slowly at first but Juliet has built up a reputation as an entertaining and emotive live performer, proving her ability to hold her audience's attention during support slots with the likes of Bob Dylan, Brian Kennedy, Natalie Merchant, Roger McGuin and many more as a result "Let's Hear It For Pizza", a beautiful collection of songs, bitter yet humorous in their honesty, is disappearing from record stores in large quantities than ever before.

2000 and 2001 has been astonishing years for Juliet. Her current album "Burn The Black Suit" was certified platinum after only seven months on release and is now currently heading for double platinum! The album produced hit singles "Burn The Black Suit" and "Take The Money And Run" which featured heavily in the radio airplay charts. Juliet also featured heavily in the majority of the critic's polls at the end of last year and scored highly with Hot Press' annual poll Juliet was voted No.4 Irish Female Singer and No.5 Irish Songwriter while the album "Burn The Black Suit" was voted No.3 in the Irish album stakes. On top of all this Juliet was selected as one of Ireland's 50 hottest women.

Ireland Gig Info:

Juliet Turner will be doing most of her playing in the UK this year but in preparation for a new album, will be doing a small number of gigs in Ireland. She plans to play in intimate venues, mostly accompanied by guitarist Iain Archer, who played on Juliet's 1996 Let's Hear it for Pizza album, showcasing new songs. Most of these dates will be low key, there will be a minimum amount of advertising, so if you want to attend, you'd be well advised to keep an eye on julietturner.com.
