John
Verhaeven & The Standoff
We
met playwright and producer John Verhaeven with John
Turk and The Standoff whilst attending an event at
The Sugar Refinery. We invited them to come check
out one of our warehouse events and they really got
into our "art parties in South Vancouver".
Verhaeven
told us to "keep doing these things on South
West Marine Drive". He produced a short play
in the wee hours of the evening - or morning, rather
- at our Wildcard
event.
The
short play was performed to a very appreciative crowd
in the docking bay of an old warehouse to diehard
BH'ers. We sure hit the jackpot with these guys and
our best attended event. Wildcard
will forever be a reminder to us of the potential
of Beautiful House.
The
Standoff has had a number of events in 2000 at The
Cavern on Commercial Drive. Since then, we have lost
touch with them as they appear to be travelling.
